The NSS Unit along with the School of Allied Health Sciences of MLCU successfully organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Blood Center of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, on the 22nd of April 2025 at the MLCU Nongrah Campus.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students and staff, with over 29 blood donors who came forward to donate blood, contributing meaningfully to saving lives.
The program commenced at 10:00 AM compered by Ms. Ibanriakor D Pakma, an NSS Volunteer. The ceremony began with a warm Welcome Address by Dr. Iadonlang Tynsong, Registrar of MLCU followed by an orientation on the importance of blood donation, its procedure benefits and impact of blood donation in healthcare delivery by the Head of Department of Blood Center and Transfusion Medicine, NEIGRIHMS, Dr. Lutika Nepram, Prof. T.K. Bamon, Vice Chancellor of MLCU also delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students and staff to embrace the spirit of social responsibility and community service.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Colleen Pariat, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, who expressed gratitude to the donors, NEIGRIHMS, volunteers, and organizers for their invaluable support in making the event a success.
This initiative not only promoted awareness about the importance of blood donation but also exemplified the commitment of MLCU and NEIGRIHMS to public health and community engagement.
