
Shillong, March 25-26, 2025 – The School of Economics, Commerce, and Management at Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) successfully organized a two-day National Conference on “Bridging Academia and Industry Innovation: A Two-Way Approach.” The event brought together researchers, students, and industry professionals to explore emerging trends in digital transformation, business sustainability, commerce, healthcare, and financial management.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Commissioner of Education, Government of Meghalaya, who emphasized the importance of academia-industry collaboration in shaping a future-ready workforce. Dr. Habib Laskar from Assam University delivered a keynote speech on AI, fintech, and e-commerce, stressing the need for adaptability in a rapidly evolving economy.
The first day featured expert sessions on topics such as AI in education, corporate governance, sustainable business models, digital healthcare, and financial technology. Over 220 students and professionals from institutions like ICFAI University, Synod College, and MIT participated in discussions with industry leaders.
The second day was dedicated to technical sessions, including 17+ paper presentations and 5 poster presentations. Research highlights included e-governance, digital transformation in the judicial system, and sustainable tourism development. Awards were presented for outstanding research, with Mr. Pranab Duara & Dr. Marina B. Marwein receiving the Best Paper Award and Dr. Zaman E. Tongper winning the Best Poster Award.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session where experts encouraged continued engagement between academia and industry to drive innovation and sustainable development. MLCU remains committed to fostering knowledge-sharing and collaborative growth.
