MISSION
“In keeping with the university’s vision, the mission of the department is to inculcate in the students the quality of life and professionalism, holding Christ-like humility that will create relationship, demonstrated in the life of Christ, making a long term commitment to the transformation of church and society”
MLCU recognises its commitment to the ministry of service and compassion and upholds that the mission of God’s people must be rooted in a communal life centred in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It should be affirmed in a vibrant spirituality of worship and service to enhance the dignity of each individual, committed to promoting community, reverence, openness and eagerness to serve the needs of marginalised in the church and society. Among those who are the most destitute are women, girl children, and the elderly and among the most marginalised are tribals and Dalits whose existence continues to be the most deprived. Our preparation for the ministry keeps them at the forefront.
While MLCU is committed to the evangelical focus and ecumenical in character and practice, drawing students, faculty and Christian institutions from different confessional backgrounds of both mainstream and free churches to study in Martin Luther Christian University, or at a growing number of partner seminaries and theological colleges. University-level theological education offered for the pastors and laity resulting in certificate, diploma and degree in several streams and specialisations. The unique team of scholars, nationally and internationally reputed, contribute to this program who have the experience to meet contemporary challenges of ministry and mission confronted by the church and society in the 21st century
