Bharat Scouts and Guides (Rangers and Rovers) in brief:
The Bharat Scouts and Guides is an organization well recognized and aided by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and work towards developing leadership competencies, training in life skills, vocational and survival skills, disaster preparedness, environmental awareness, protecting heritage sites, aiming to contribute to the creation of a better world. Scouting and guiding is an educative attempt to cultivate among boys and girls the qualities of good citizenship.

Rangers and Rovers are the senior wing of Scouting and Guiding. Rovering/Rangering was started by the founder of the Scout Movement Lord Baden Powell in 1918. Any regular student of College/ University between the age group of 15 to 25 years can be enlisted as a Rover (Boy) / Ranger (Girl).

Rover/Ranger activities: Crew/Team members meet to enjoy social activities, fun, adventure, and once-in a life-time experiences with a highly flexible program to suit every individual. A Rover/Ranger strives to serve the community, make life-long friends, and seize every available opportunity for personal and collective growth. Rovers and Rangers are engaged in various kinds of activities such as:

  1. Hiking and Trekking
  2. Adventure camps
  3. Swachh Bharat
  4. Community development programme and social service
  5. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
  6. Participation in Government initiatives
  7. Skill development programmes
  8. Personality development

To date, the Rangers and Rovers have attended/participated in the following activities:

  1. Two days training programme and Investiture Ceremony-August 9-11,2022
  2. International Day of Peace celebration organised by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides (MBSG)-September 21, 2022
  3. Impact Week 2022 organised by AISEC, Shillong-October 18, 2022
  4. Programme at the MBSG head quarters during the visit of the members Election Commission of India-January 13,2023
  5. Republic Day celebration, 2023 jointly organised with the student council-January 26, 2023
  6. World Thinking Day and Founder’s Day 2023 organised by MBSG-February 22, 2023
  7. Celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 9, 2023 on the theme “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.
  8. Training on the Basics of First Aid for Rangers and Rovers- March 28, 2023
  9. Camp organised by the Impeesa Forever Rover crew at the State Training Centre at Umtyngar- May 5-7, 2023
  10. Independence Day celebration- August 15, 2023
  11. Trekking adventure to Nongblai village- December 16, 2023
  12. Republic day celebration, 2024- January 26, 2024
  13. Attended a cultural programme at Raj Bhavan, Shillong to commemorate the statehood day of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh-February 20,2024
  14. Participated in the celebration of Founders day & World Thinking day at the State Headquarters- February 22,2024
  15. Participated in the campaign on “Myself, My Community: Shared Responsibility at the MBSG State Head Quarters-March 13, 2024
  16. Participated in the weekend camp at the State Training Centre, Umtyngar organised by the Limelight Scout Group-May 10-12, 2024
  17. Volunteered for the State level Interschool athletic meet organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs-May 22-24, 2024
