About the program

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences is a program designed to equip the students with knowledge, skills and proficiencies to understand, identify and assess the qualitative, technical, anthropogenic and scientific components of environmental issues for the protection and conservation of the environment at local, regional, national and globallevels. The program aims to provide students with skills to critically analyze different environmental problems and apply globally and nationally acceptable standards and align with local conditions. Students will be equipped with advanced scientific knowledge and analytical skills to sustainably manage natural resources. 

The program is designed to provide an understanding of scientific principles and factors playing a role in the environment, both natural and man-made. It will allow students to learn different ways and methods to manage such situations and conditions.  This program will impart practical skills to students by exposing them to field, laboratory, and community conditions. Students will also obtain relevant skills and knowledge in the fields of ecology, physical and chemical environment, environmental monitoring and assessment, and community participation. This program is structured in a manner that will allow students to examine global issues, tools for management and decision making, laws and policies related to environment and will be able to combine their skills to environmental issues from sustainability perception. The special component of the course is the tribal and environment perspective which will be supported by case studies of traditional methods which are environment friendly. 

Career prospects

BSc Environmental Science graduates will have a number of career options in environmental science. Graduates can find work in research organization, NGOs, private sector, public sector, and research & development laboratories. Some popular career options include environmental analyst, environmental manager, natural resource manager, conservationist, environmental consultant, wildlife film-maker, national parks and wildlife manager, environment photographer, environment activists, and environmental journalists.
