Master of Arts in Peace and Justice

Duration: 2 years (four semesters) for Regular Mode. 3 years (six semesters) for Distance mode. The program will also be offered as a part-time in-service program for working professionals using a blended pedagogy with a minimum of 4 years.

About the Program

Peace Studies is an important field of study, especially in Northeast India where conflict has almost become a way of life. The world is filled with all kinds of conflicts and violence, and there is a loud cry for peace in every society. There is a dire need for peace and justice in our own societies and elsewhere. The Master of Arts in Peace and Justice (MAPJ) program is designed to prepare professional peace-builders. The course is comprised of 15 core subjects and the issues range from conflict analysis to mediation skills; inter-village conflict to international conflicts; tribal methods of peace-building to international relations and UN peace-building initiatives. The course will not only motivate but also equip the learners to become effective peace-builders in society.

Course of Study

  • Theoretical knowledge: Lectures, reading assignments, paper presentations, and discussions.
  • Practical skills: Workshops, seminars, practicals in the church and community, and writing of a project/thesis.
