About the Program

The world is filled with all kinds of conflicts and violence, and there is a loud cry for peace and justice in every society. Our region, the North East India, has been deeply affected by various conflicts for the last many decades. Peace studies, therefore, is a dire need in the region where people struggle in the midst of multiple conflicts. The Master of Arts in Peace and Justice (MAPJ) programme is designed to enable the learners to understand the theories of conflicts and peace; analyse the causes and process of conflicts; the various methods of conflict resolution; the approaches to peacebuilding; human rights for justice andpeace, etc. The course will equip the learners with both theoretical and practical skills to become effective peacebuilders in the society.

Course delivery

  • Theoretical knowledge: Lectures, review of literature, paper presentations, guest lectures, discussions, paper presentations, and watching of relevant video clips/movies.
  • Practical skills: Role plays, field visits, internship, workshops, seminars, debates, practical works in the community.
