About the program

The Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies is a multi-disciplinary program that will equip students with knowledge, skills and proficiencies to understand, identify and assess the qualitative, technical, anthropogenic, socio-economic and scientific components of environmental issues. The course aims to provide students with skills to manage different environmental problems and apply various indigenous knowledge as well as global standards and adapt to local conditions with an integrated sustainability approach. Students will be equipped with appropriate knowledge and skills to understand the interrelationship between human society and the environment as well as to efficiently manage natural resources besides prevention and mitigation of pollution.

The program is also designed to provide an understanding of scientific principles and social components with factors playing a role in the environment both natural and man-made. It will allow students to learn the different ways and methods to manage such situations and conditions.  This program will offer practical skills in the field, laboratory and community including geographical information science. Students will obtain and apply relevant skills and knowledge in the fields of ecology, physical and chemical environment, environmental monitoring and assessment as well as community and social development prospects. The program is structured in such a manner that it will allow students to examine global issues, various tools for management and decision making, laws and policies related to environment, and will be able to apply their skills and approaches to environmental issues from a sustainability perception. The special component of the course is the tribal and environment perspective which will be supported by case studies of traditional methods which are environment friendly.

Career prospects

Graduates of BA in Environmental Studies program have a number of career options in various fields of environment and management. Graduates can find job opportunities in research organization, NGOs working for environmental protection, private sector, public sector and some popular career options which include environmental analyst, environmental manager, natural resource manager, conservationist, environmental consultant, wildlife film-maker, environment photographer, environment activists and many other fields.
