This is an interdisciplinary course which embraces a wide variety of subject matter from different fields like social work, management, economics, sociology and environmental science. There are several major coalescing issues that cut across the different fields. The aim of this course is to provide students with scientific principles, concepts and methodologies required to understand the interrelationship of the natural world with the above mentioned fields.
About the Course:
The course includes the biological and social matter that relate to current environmental issues, conservation strategies, energy flow/nutrient cycling, legal aspects, social impact assessment, basic ecological and technological concerns and advances, and scientific analysis and solutions to environmental problems.
As part of the field activity students will be exposed to the values and practice of environmentally conducive indigenous methods and government regulations. They will also be given an opportunity to cope with the environmental problems prevailing in our immediate surroundings and one of the core learning will be social impact assessment.
The career options for graduates with MAESD are available in the private and government organizations as well as industries and NGOs. The course in itself covers both natural science and social science and promises tremendous employment opportunities as environmental biologists, environmental modelers, environmental activists, environmental journalists, etc.
