Master of Science in Medical Imaging Technology

Duration: 2½ years (4 semesters+6 months internship).
Eligibility: Graduate in BSc MIT
Being vital members of the healthcare team, the Post Graduate in Medical Imaging Technology Course can effectively manage radiological diagnostic service facilities and assist radiological procedures involving CT (Computerized Tomography) scan and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). Medical imaging is important in virtually every facet of clinical practice and is one of the key elements in diagnosis, monitoring of and in some cases guiding of therapy.
After learning how to deal with a range of physiological and environmental factors , they will become experts in the operational aspects of the imaging department and in quality and safety aspects. The Post Graduates in this course will learn the in depth functional of conventional X-ray, advanced and enhanced knowledge in Computerized Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Using new imaging techniques, alongside doctors and nurses, the student can help in quicker and more accurate diagnosis of illness.

First  Year
I&IISemester

The course consists of an advanced study of conventional radiology, radiographic procedures and CT scan.

The students will gain knowledge of the physical and mathematical aspects of image formation of the several imaging techniques in CT scan. The students will be involved more in practical sessions in the hospitals/diagnostic centers. Therefore, the students will get more exposure in performing the different radiological techniques, positioning and procedures with live patients.

Second Year
III&IV Semester

 

The course consist of basics of nuclear medicine imaging, hospital practice and patient care, knowledge about various interventional radiographic techniques, ultrasonography and the advanced study of the physics, components of MRI.

The students will gain knowledge and develop skills in basics of nuclear medicine imaging, hospital practice and patient care, knowledge about various interventional radiographic techniques, knowledge of the advanced physics and components of MRI. The students will be involved more in practical sessions in the hospitals/diagnostic centers. Therefore, the students will get more exposure in performing the different radiological techniques, positioning and procedures with live patients.

Third year

6 months Internship

Hands-on application in different hospitals.
During this period they will be conducting a project under the supervision of a guide.

The students will enhance and strengthen their practical skills and gain an in-depth experience in the different techniques that are involved with imagingtechnology. The students will be able to collect, analyze and interpret data for their project report

Course of study:
The course is designed to impart practical knowledge with theoretical concepts ensuring optimum learning by the students.

  • Theoretical knowledge: Lectures, demonstrations, seminars, presentation and assignments.
  • Practical knowledge: Hands-on clinical experience in hospitals and diagnostic centres.
