Course - Post Graduate
Master of Science in Medical Imaging Technology(3 yrs)

Duration: 3 years (5 semesters+6 months internship).
Eligibility: BSc with Physics

The Graduates will be exposed to both theoretical and clinical instructions covering topics such as physiology, anatomy, radiation physics, radiation imaging, radiation protection, positioning of patients, radiographic techniques, medical terminology and patient care procedures.
The Post Graduate in Medical Imaging Technology Course can then effectively manage radiological diagnostic service facilities and assist radiological procedures involving CT (Computerized Tomography) scan and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). Medical imaging is important in virtually every facet of clinical practice and is one of the key elements in diagnosis, monitoring of and in some cases guiding of therapy.
After learning how to deal with a range of physiological and environmental factors, they will become experts in the operational aspects of the imaging department and in quality and safety aspects. The Post Graduates in this course will learn the in depth functional of conventional X-ray, advanced and enhanced knowledge in Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography. Using new imaging techniques, alongside doctors and nurses, the student can help in quicker and more accurate diagnosis of illness.

First Year
I&II Semester

The course consist of basics of hospital practice and patient care, knowledge in  handling various radiographic equipments and techniques, special radiological procedures, radiographic  radiation hazards and protection, basic physics.

The students will gain knowledge and develop skills in basics of hospital practice and patient care, handling various radiographic equipments and techniques, special radiological procedures, CT scan, radiation hazards and protection, basic physics.

Second Year
III&IV Semester

The course consists of principles, physics, components and protocols, of CT scan, MRI, mammography, ultrasound, orthopedics, forensic science and research methods.

The students will gain knowledge and develop skills in the operation of CT, MRI and mammography. Students will also be able to evaluate images, ensure radiation safety, reviewing and reporting to physician.

Third Year
V Semester

 

 

 

 

 

VISemester

The course consist of basics of nuclear medicine imaging, , knowledge about various interventional radiographic techniques, and the advanced study of the physics, components of CT scan and MRI.

 

 

Hands-on application in different hospitals.
During this period they will be conducting a project under the supervision of a guide.

 

The students will gain knowledge and develop skills in the operation of CT, MRI. knowledge about various interventional radiographic techniques, knowledge of the advanced physics and components of MRI. The students will be involved more in practical sessions in the hospitals/diagnostic centers. Therefore, the students will get more exposure in performing the different radiological techniques, positioning and procedures with live patients.

The students will enhance and strengthen their practical skills and gain an in-depth experience in the different techniques that are involved with imagingtechnology. The students will be able to collect, analyze and interpret data for their project report.
