Exhibition on “North East Cultural Discourses: Visual and Text.”

Swar Sangam, Kolkata, in collaboration with Martin Luther Christian University organised an exhibition on “North East Cultural Discourses: Visual and Text.” The objective of the exhibition is to focus on values and identities as the younger generation of students struggle to depict their values and identities through the art forms they practice like pictorial landscape, Humanscape or Urbanscape in a socio cultural context, wherein an individual joins other individuals in becoming a group.

Art forms like ‘Painting to 3D Design’ or ‘Drawing to Photography’ that were exhibited are art forms that pose a challenge to every young artist as it is not possible to develop them without perception and knowledge.

More than 300 works were exhibited in the university’s premises and these comprised of original book arts, illustrations, drawings, photographs, digital graphics and installations, most of them being based on the cultural discourses of the North East, for example, the Holy Kingdom and hornbill birds. The faculty and students of the university attended the exhibition and interacted with the artists.
