Health Camp organised by Allied Health Sciences, MLCU

Shillong September 29: Martin Luther Christian University through its Department of Allied Health Sciences, today conducted a free Health Camp for the villagers of the village of Nongrim-Nongladaw, Bhoi Rhymbong, Ri Bhoi District.


The health camp held not only consultations with doctors but also tests were performed by the students of the department of AHS, the test included Blood Test, BMI, Vital Signs, Diet and Nutrition counseling.


The village has an approximate of 120 households and more than 200 villagers both young and old came to the health camp and took the opportunity to get checked and were also given the prescribed medicines free of cost.


As part of the National Nutrition Month celebration the students from the Nutrition and Deititics Cell of the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Martin Luther Christian University participated in the Nutritious Indigenous Food Festival organised by the Nutrition department of The Children's Hospital, Shillong, Pohkseh on the theme "Go further with food" which was held at the Hospital premises on September 29, 2018.

The students of the AHS department prepared and displayed food items which are nutritious, healthy, locally available and mostly which suits to the palate, appetite and nutritional demands of the children.

The items prepared by the AHS students were awarded with first, third and consolation prize.

The food items displayed are unique and proof to be beneficial for the parents as it was easy for convincing children too taste the nutrients dense food.
