MLCU welcomes the new batch

Shillong August 25: Martin Luther Christian University today officially welcomed its new batch of students for the Academic Year 2017- 2018 at the MLCU Orientation Programme held today at the Madan Mawarling Umpling, Dong Shaneng Shillong. A total of 558 new students have enrolled for the different courses in the different departments of the University.

Skits on Experiential Learning by the students of the Department of Social Work and on Evaluation and Policies by the Department of Management and Commerce Studies were presented during the Orientation with the aim to expose the new students to all the different aspects of the University.

Dr Glenn C Kharkongor while addressing the students said that MLCU is one of the friendliest University and therefore making it the happiest University. He added that students are the top most priority of University, and that the teaching and learning process is done in a very stress-free environment.

Ms Lititia A Suchiang, Academic Officer gave a brief presentation on Experiential Learning, and the different activities conducted by the departments as part of Experiential Learning.

Dr Iwamon WJ Laloo, Controller Evaluation and Examination gave a presentation on system of Evaluation in the University which is the Continuous Formative Evaluation that has been practiced in the University since its inception in 2006. She also added that MLCU prides itself on using different evaluating techniques depending on the students’ capabilities and hence helping each student to achieve their academic success.

Ms Ivyreen Warjri, Mission Director, State Resource Centre for Women, Meghalaya, who is an alumnus of the University spoke at length about her experiences in the University. She added that her choice to join MLCU was such a blessing to her life and that MLCU is one of the reason that she has been able to achieve such success in her life. She encouraged the students to utilise every opportunity that the University provides for them, because in the long run their time in University will be a one of the best times ever.

Ms B Rani, faculty and member of the University’s NSS unit gave a brief presentation on the National Service Scheme  and its function. She also informed that all MLCU students are part of the NSS and further added that proper registration for all new students will take place at the Department level
