The undergraduate & postgraduate students of the dept were explained about the importance of wildlife in our life and the urgent need to protect them. Though rich in biodiversity, many plant and animal species in Meghalaya have come under serious threat.
Besides recording the details of plant and animal species present there, the students also delved in to the distribution, abundance and ecosystem functioning of species present in these two protected areas.
They studied the current level of conservation being practiced there. The long-term objective of the programme was to draw up an effective model of conservation for the wild fauna and flora of the state.
