MLCU's Computer Science Department hosts Lecture on "Spatial Distribution of Big Data and Some Application"

Shillong March 2, 2017: With an aim to motivate students using different available big data analytical tools, the department of Computer Sciences, Martin Luther Christian University today hosted a lecture by the and former Director C-DAC former Deputy Director at Defense R&D Organization, Hyderabad, Dr. N Chandrasekaran.

Dr. N Chandrasekaran gave a lecture on “Spatial Distribution of Big Data and Some Application”, to students not just from the department of Computer Sciences but also from the other departments from the University.

In the session, Dr. Chandrasekaran, spoke at length how NoSQL (originally referring to "non SQL", "non-relational" or "not only SQL") which is a database that provides a mechanism for storage and retrieval of data which is modeled in means other than the tabular relation s used in relational databases, this mechanism can help change the world spectrum in data management.

Giving example of the ample tourism potential in Meghalaya and with the growing arsenal of customer data available from multiple channels, he encouraged the students to take advantage of Big Data (extremely large data sets that may be analysed computationally to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, especially relating to human behaviour and interactions) and Big Data analytics and contribute in the growth of the state.
