Lyngwa. Sanda, N
Sanda Nichell Lyngwa is an Associate Professor and currently the Head of Department of the Department of English and Communication, Shillong. She completed her Master’s degree in Linguistics from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong, and a Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Shillong. She joined MLCU in August 2006, and completed her PhD in English Language Education in a thesis entitled English Language Teaching in Teacher Education Colleges in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya: A Study’, from EFLU in 2011. Sanda is a member of the Working and Academic Committee of MLCU.
Marbaniang, Fabian W
Fabian Marbaniang is an Asst. Professor in the Department of English and Communication, Shillong. He is currently pursuing his Ph. D from The English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) Shillong. He received his M. Phil Degree in 2010 from EFLU for his work on A Study on Learning Strategies among the Higher Secondary Students in the East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya. Prior to working in MLCU, Fabian has had vast experience in the field of classroom teaching and lecturing at the high school level, the secondary , the higher secondary and the bachelor’s degree level.
Ms. Wanniang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Communication. She completed her M.Phil (English) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and M.A. (English) also from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The faculty teaches English and Communication at the graduation and post-graduation levels. She is involved in the curriculum designing of the department. She is a member of the Career Skills Curriculum Development Team, The National Service Scheme and a member of the Students’ Affairs Committee. She initiates and facilitates students’ Community Projects in Schools, Orphanages, Rural Community, Children’s Hospital and for the Underprivileged . She is the External Examiner of Woodland School of Nursing (2013 till date) The faculty was an Acting Head of the Department in the Spring Semester of 2014 and a Co-ordinator of the Department in Autumn 2011. She has been a member of the Culture and Environment Committee, Career Counselling Team, the Committee Against Sexual Harassment and the Life Skills Team of the university. She was previously working as a Full-time Lecturer at Raid Laban College, Nabon College and St. Mary’s College (Morning Section) and Part-time Lecturer in Christ King College and School of Nursing, Dr H. Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong . She worked as a Project Manager of North East Educational and Development Society (NEEDS), Shillong.
Marak, Twinkle. K
Twinkle Koknal Marak is an Assistant Professor presently teaching English and Communication to U.G and P.G level students at Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong. She completed her Masters in English Literature from NEHU, Shillong. Twinkle was the Campus Coordinator of Tura Campus for three (3) years prior to being transferred to Shillong in 2012.
Dawanisa Dhar is a Lecturer in the Department of English and Communication. She joined Martin Luther Christian University on the 16th Feb, 2012. She completed her Graduation (English Hons) from St. Mary’s College, Shillong in the year 2004 and her Post Graduation in English from the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), Shillong Campus in the year 2006. She has also completed her M.Phil in English Language Education (ELE) in May, 2013 from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU),Shillong Campus on the topic entitled Developing Communicative Skills for Business Management Students at the Under Graduate Level. She is currently doing her Ph.D (ELE) from English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU),Shillong Campus. Dawan is an executive member of the English Language Teachers Association of India (ELTAI), Shillong Chapter.
Lalrinmuani Kingbawl is a Lecturer in the Department of English and Communications. She joined Martin Luther Christian University in March, 2015. She completed her Bachelor of Education from College of Teacher Education, PGT, Shillong in the year 2015, her Post Graduation in Linguistics from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in the year 2013, and her Graduation in English Literature from Sankardev College, Shillong in the year 2011.
Dr. Chelmelyne Dhar is a faculty in the Department of English and Communication. She joined MLCU in September 2014. She is UGC-NET (Linguistics) qualified Asst.Professor. She received her Master’s degree in Linguistics in the year 2006. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in 2014 on her thesis titled “A Phonological and Lexical Study of Lamin and Shella varieties of Khasi: A comparative study” from Linguistics Department. NEHU, Shillong. She has been assisting the Department as teaching Assistant from March-April 2012. She was also involved in the Mother Tongue Survey of India (MTSI) project organized by the Department of Linguistics NEHU, Shillong in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, The office of Registrar General, Indian Language Division, and Kolkata in September 2009.
Ms. Ruby is an Assistant Professor. She has done her Post Graduation in English from NEHU. She also completed Post Graduate Diploma in Translation. Ms. Ruby has been a lecturer in Bissau College, Shillong.
