Lyngdoh, Maxwell, S
Dr. S Maxwell Lyngdoh is an Associate Professor in Social Work Department, Shillong. He completed his PhD from MLCU on the topic “A study on the effectiveness of Media as an agent to alleviate Economic Poverty in Meghalaya with a special focus on Rural East Khasi Hills”, with a Fellowship from Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi, (ICSSR, New Delhi) (2010 - 2014). He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication, both from Bangalore University. His second Master’s is in Advertising and Public Relations. He is also a trained Career Counsellor of The Promise Foundation, Bangalore. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he is the Public Information Officer of the University, Coordinator, Students Affairs Committee and Coordinator, NSS Unit of MLCU. At present he is also the Deputy Director, Affiliate Education . Maxwell has served as Coordinator, Media and Publication prior to his present assignments.
Nongrum, Melari Shisha
Dr. Melari Shisha Nongrum has been teaching in the Department of Social Work since 2008. She has completed her Master of Arts in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She is a NET qualified faculty and has completed her PhD from MLCU. She is currently the Associate Dean of the University Research Cell. Melari has served as Project Coordinator of the University prior to taking up the responsibility as HOD of the SW Department. Melari has been involved as Co-investigator for a three years Project on Revitalizing of Local Health Traditions to enhance the Health Security of Rural Communities in Pynursla Block, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, as a Project Coordinator for the Public Health Initiatives through Traditional Medicine project, as a Team Leader for three projects: Survey to examine the Changing Diet patterns and sale of indigenous food in local markets of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, Evaluation Study of the Integrated Child Development Services in Meghalaya, and Health services in Meghalaya: a people’s perspective. She was working member of the team that drafted the State Health Policy, a Senior Resource Person for the UNDP funded project to Support the Operationalization of the MGNREG Scheme in Khasi and Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya and a Consultant for an Impact study on the Food and Livelihood Insecurity in Mautam affected Saiha District, Mizoram of Save the Children (BR) and in Documenting the Lessons Learnt and Good Practices of the Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Project of the Society for Social Transformation and Environment Protection, Assam.
Ms. Marbabiang ,the Head of Department of the Social Work Department, Shillong, has been lecturing in the Department of Social Work since September 2009. She is a NET Qualified faculty and currently pursuing her PhD from MLCU. She completed her Master’s in Social Work from CMR Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore. She was holding the position of the HR Coordinator of the University from February 2012 till July 2014. In addition to her classroom possibilities, she has been involved in carrying out MLCU undertaken projects such as the Awareness Generation Programme funded by the Central Social Welfare Board and the Model Village Project funded by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council. Marbabiang has had experience as an Executive HR in MNE Technologies, Bangalore and Adhunik Cement Ltd. Lumshnong, Jaintia Hills prior to working in MLCU.
Adonister is an Assistant Professor in the department of Social Work. He received his post graduation in Social Work from MLCU in 2010. He has been a student coordinator for one year 2012 - 2013. He also holds the post of a Coordinator for Interactive Teaching in the University from 2013 - 2014.
He had also been holding a post of Deputy Coordinator of Evaluation for 6 months 2014-2015.
Kharmalki, John Paul
John Paul Banshan Kharmalki is an Assistant Professor in the department of Social Work. He received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Martin Luther Christian University in 2010. Prior to joining Martin Luther Christian University he worked for Aide Ed Action, an International organisation, as a Centre- in- Charge of iLEAD, a project of the organisation in Shillong for a period of 1 (one) year. He has previously worked as the Infrastructure Coordinator of the University.
Synthiang, Ibasaralyne Thabah
Ibasaralyne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, Shillong from August 2013. She is a UGC NET qualified lecturer. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work (Medical and Psychiatric) from Alva’s College of Social Work, Mangalore University. Prior to joining the University, Ibasaralyne served as a Programme Manager (Targetted Intervention Project) for Grassroot NGO, and lectured in St. Edmund’s College in the Department of Social Work for a year. She has also previously worked as an Asst. Programme Manager (Meghalaya and Mizoram) for 2 years at Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI) for Axshya Project (TB Project) funded by the Global Fund Round 9 via The International Union against TB and Lung diseases. She had also been the Information Education Communication (IEC) Officer for Meghalaya State TB Control Society for 2 years and a Consultant at Genpact under GE Healthcare, Gurgaon for a year. Her field work experiences were in Air Force Hospital, Bangalore, Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and SANKER in Shillong.
Riyan Yimchunger is a Assistant Professor in the Social Work Department. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from MLCU in 2009. Riyan has worked as an Asst. Project Coordinator, for two years for Citizens Foundation, PPP NRHM Meghalaya prior to working in MLCU.
Nandaris has been lecturing in the department of Social work since August 2014. She completed her Master of Social work from MLCU in 2010 and had also completed her Community Health Learning programme from SOCHARA, Bangalore. Prior to joining the University, Nandaris served as a teacher and Acting Headmistress at Girls’ Secondary School, Mawlangwir, she worked at Kgolagano Theological college, Botswana, Africa, she had also been the Programme Manager for a Targeted Intervention project (Female sex workers) and also a Master trainer of TI Projects implemented by Meghalaya AIDS Control Society. Her field work experiences were in World vision, Manbha Foundation, Sadar police station, District jail, Meghalaya State Network for Positive people (MSNP+), Shillong; VIMOCHANA and Swathi Mahila Sangha in Bangalore and SAHAJ & Prerna in Gujarat.
H.S. Dawnthingla is a NET qualified lecturer in Social Work Department. She has been teaching in Social Work Department, Jowai since August 2011.She received her Post Graduate Degree in Social Work from MLCU in the year 2010.
Dayoophika Khyriem is Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work from August 2013. She is a NET qualified lecturer. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work with specialization in Community Development from St. Joseph’s College Bangalore in 2013.
Mr. Wankmen Kharbuli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. He has an MPhil from Mizoram University and is also NET qualified. He has worked as Supervisor at Neilsen India (Pvt) Ltd, Guwahati for the National Family Health Survey.
Ms. Nadeen Pakyntein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. She completed her MSW from Assam Don Bosco University and is NET Qualified. She has worked as Educational Co-worker at SOS Children’s Village, Shillong, and has also as Probation Officer, Dept of Social Welfare, Meghalaya.
